The things geeks do for love…

It’s always interesting to see the things geeks do for love. For example two years ago Tom Whyntie from CERN combined data from an early colision at the LHC and added addition data from a heart-shaped equation to create this picture:

Protons piercing through a heart

He gave it to his girlfriend as a Valentine’s day card two years ago and they are happily married now.

Apparently they both looked at it like Cupid’s arrow piercing a heart…but I see something different, something a lot less romantic…more along the lines of a heart breaking revelation…

Of course after looking at this I would have to say that the traditional Cupid’s arrow is actually quite grotesque.

Unfortunately it reminds me a little bit of a computer program I wrote back in high school as a way to ask a girl to the banquet (Adventist schools have banquets instead of dances).
